Norse art, or more commonly known as Scandinavian art, has many design elements in common with Celtic, Germanic, Romanesque, and Eastern European art. Viking art is a term widely accepted for the art of the Vikings and Scandinavian Norsemen particularly in Iceland and in the British Isles. It is usually divided into a sequence of roughly chronological styles, although outside of Scandinavia local influences are often stronger with lesser development styles.

Viking art is organized into a loose sequence of stylistic phrases and is categorized into six different styles: (1.) Oseberg Style, (2.) Borre Style, (3.) Jellinge Style, (4.) Mammen Style, (5.) Ringerike Style and lastly the (6.) Urnes Style.
